Commercial Fishing

Commercial fishing represents the art of fishing with a profit-driven approach centred on generating income through selling fish, seafood production, and providing raw materials to related industries. This method entails large-scale fishing operations, adhering to the rules and regulations governing wild fisheries. Commercial fishing is often conducted in the challenging and vast expanses of the open ocean, where adverse conditions prevail.
While major corporations are dominant players in the commercial fishing industry, it's essential to note that small, family-owned operations also contribute significantly. Dive into the dynamic world of commercial fishing, where the pursuit of profit and the rhythm of the sea converge. Explore this essential industry with us.

Traditional Fishing

Traditional fishing, a timeless practice, predominantly relies on skillfully using nets. Among the various techniques within traditional fishing, one involves the installation of vertical nets along the shoreline strategically placed to await the tide's embrace. It's during this natural phenomenon that the catch is reeled in.
Another venerable method of traditional fishing involves the deployment of sizable nets, either positioned at the water's bottom or floating on the surface. A vessel may tow these nets along a predetermined route or spread out across the fishing area. Dive into the world of traditional fishing, where age-old techniques meet the ebb and flow of nature. Join us as we explore this enduring practice.

Arctic Grayling

NBC Hunts territory is a haven for Arctic Grayling (Thymallus arcticus), hosting some of British Columbia's most densely populated Grayling rivers. While they may be a bit finicky, they offer discerning anglers the ultimate dry fly-fishing experience. Bull Trout

Meet the apex predators of our rivers, the Bull Trout (Salvelinus confluentus). These remarkable fish dominate their river domain and are renowned for their willingness to journey great distances to strike a precisely presented fly. In the NBC Hunts territory, these magnificent Bull Trout can reach lengths exceeding 28 inches, offering a genuine shot at landing the "fish of a lifetime."

Lake Trout

Discover the uniquely Canadian freshwater char, the Lake Trout (Salvelinus namaycush). Our territory is home to Lake Trout, which exceeds the typical 2-10 pound range and boasts exceptional taste.
